Middle East – Iran
Population: 98.7% of the 76 million people of Iran claim to be Muslim.
It is estimated that there are about 800,000 Christians in Iran from a Muslim background where the persecution can often be fierce.
With approximately two-thirds of the population under age 30 and disillusionment at an all-time high, there is a unique Gospel opportunity among this generation.
Christian media continues to be developed in many formats - audio/MP3, mobile phone memory, radio, video, literature and the Internet, ensuring that the Gospel is reaching more than ever before.
Believers are now coming to realise that Iran has a prominent place in Biblical history. As well as being home to Daniel, Habakkuk, Mordecai and Esther, it was also the country of Cyrus and Darius and the land of the Medes and the Persians.
Lord, we rejoice, as you are saving countless Iranians. Help this new church to grow and use various mechanisms such as media ministry to enable them to put down strong roots. Strengthen the persecuted and in turn enable the sinner to hear of your redemptive work at the cross.
For Jesus’ sake, Amen
